Delaware vs Pittsburgh College Football Week-1 Preview

Pittsburgh vs Delaware Football The FCS Delaware Fighting Blue hens travel to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers. Last season Delaware set off on a positive note with a powerful victory over Jacksonville. They finished the season 7-5 and were not chosen to be a part of any bowl games. The Fighting Blue Hens lost their last three games of the season much to the disappointment of their fans. Delaware will be looking for redemption against a Panthers team that they believe they can beat. The Pitt Panthers lost their opening game of 2013, but were able to put enough victories over quality opponents together to get a bowl bid against Bowling Green, which the Panthers won. This matchup with Delaware will show whether or not the Panthers kept any of their winning spirit going after their bowl game success.

Keys for the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens:

  • Facing an FBS opponent is tough, but the Fighting Blue Hens certainly have a team that is capable of winning games. Delaware was able to average over 30 points a game, but they also allowed more then 30 points a game. If the Fighting Blue Hens find a way to minimize their opponents scoring they may stand a chance.

Keys for the Pittsburgh Panthers:

  • Pittsburgh lost their starting QB for 2014, so they might have to rely more on their running game or their very capable receivers. Sophomore wide receiver Tyler Boyd caught for over 1000 yards on 85 receptions that yielded 7 touchdowns.
  • James Conner and Isaac Bennet will again share snaps in the backfield, last year they had more then 1,600 yards rushing between them. If either one or the other can get things going Delaware will be in trouble.

NO KEY INJURIES TO DATE

–Favorite/Odds: Pittsburgh by 18 points.

Every season there is a chance that an FCS school can upset their FBS opponent. This is game that has a decent FCS school facing a decent FBS school but anything can happen in NCAA football.
