Chattanooga vs Central Michigan Preview

The Central Michigan Chippewa’s take on the Chattanooga Moccasins. After this non-conference game, the Chippewas face a daunting schedule in the MAC as well as some tough non-conference opponents like the Kansas Jayhawks. So Central Michigan will be trying to get a win on the board early in their season, or it could another season without a bowl bid. FCS Chattanooga will be looking for the upset against Central Michigan before they move on to their FCS opponents and eventually against the Tennessee Volunteers mid-season.

Keys for Chattanooga Mocs:

  • The return of duel threat quarterback Jacob Huesman, means that the Mocs have an experienced leader at the helm. Last season Huesman rushed for more then 1000 yards and passed for more then 1600 yards. These kind of statistics make defenses think twice about how to cover such a mobile quarterback.

-Keys for Central Michigan Chippewa’s:

  • The return of Cooper Rush for his sophomore season bodes well for Chippewa fans. Rush passed for more then 2000 yards and had 15 touchdowns. But the 15 interceptions Rush threw need to be reduced to a more reasonable number. Rush’s sophomore season could mean his make or break chance to show Central Michigan what he is capable of.
  • Senior Wide Receiver Titus Davis is returning and looking to add to his career numbers of more then 2700 yards and 24 touchdowns in his final season with the Chippewa’s.

-Favorite/Odds: Central Michigan by 14.5 points

Although this matchup consists of two struggling teams, this game has importance to the winner for the future of their season. Central Michigan won 6 games last year and just missed the cut for a bowl bid. Maybe the 2014 season will shine a brighter light on one of these two teams.
