Tulane vs Tulsa live Preview

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane starts their season off versus a defense minded Tulane. Tulsa will be looking to get an early victory because their second game is against a top 5 Oklahoma team. Tulsa really struggled on both sides of the ball, but their rushing game was able to secure them 3 wins. Tulsa’s rushing yards were almost close to totaling their passing yards on the season. The Tulane Green Wave started their 2013 season off with a win, with their defense doing most of the work. Last year Tulane beat Tulsa in a midseason matchup 14-7. Tulane’s overall 7-6 record is deceiving considering they lost three out of their last four games, including their bowl game, by a combined 10 points. Their defense only allowed 21 points a game, a top 20 statistic for the 2013 season.

–Keys for Tulane Green Wave:

  • Make no mistake; Tulane has a difficult defense to read. Senior Cornerback Lorenzo Doss had seven interceptions for the Green Wave last year, two of which he returned to the house on a pick-six.
  • With the return of their top three tacklers Sam Scofield, Darion Monroe, and Nico Marley the Green Wave defense will be just as strong, if not stronger, then 2013.

–Keys for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane:

  • Senior Trey Watts is definitely the most explosive player that Tulsa has. Watts led the team in both rushing and receiving yards, as well as a few long punt returns. If Watts can get help from his offensive line, he will be able to add to his numbers.
  • Although the Tulane defense is a daunting task to handle, The Tulsa Golden Hurricane absolutely have the ability to get out of this game with a win.

–Favorite/Odds: Tulsa by 5 points

–A rematch from last year in which Tulane held Tulsa to just 7 points, their lowest score total of the season, Tulsa will be looking to redeem themselves and kick the season off the right way.
