James Madison vs Maryland College Football Preview

JMU-Rhode Island FTB

The James Madison Dukes travel to take on the Maryland Terrapins at Byrd stadium. James Madison of the FCS had a 6-6 record last year and will be in for a tough test against Maryland. The terrapins have their starting QB from 2013 that led them to a 7-6 season that was somewhat of a disappointment after they started this season with a four game win streak. The terrapins struggled in the Military Bowl against Marshall, and were defeated 31-20. This terrapin team in the opening game will truly test James Madison’s defense.

Keys for the James Madison Dukes:

  • The Dukes lost their top passer and their top rusher from 2013 and will need the preseason to find out who will be starting on game one.
  • James Madison is returning many of its defensive playmakers from 2013 including; Gage Steele, De’Andre Smith, Taylor Reynolds, and Dean Marlowe. All of these players will need to step it up and get the ball back into the hands of the offense.

Keys for the Maryland Terrapins:

  • Duel threat quarterback C.J. Brown returns for his senior season looking to add to his 3000 plus yards passing and 20 touchdowns passing with 13 interceptions. Brown also had 12 touchdowns rushing and 576 yards.
  • Running back Brandon Ross led his team rushing with 776 yards on 166 carries and four touchdowns. He will need to have sure hands when QB C.J. Brown pitches him the ball.

NO KEY INJURIES

Favorite/Odds: Maryland by 20 points

The Terrapins know that they ended their season a different team then the one that started the season. Maryland will be looking to get redemption for how they ended last season. They know that it will take a team effort to get back to a bowl game and it all starts against James Madison.
