Milwaukee Brewers Sweep Los Angeles Dodgers

BrewersThe Milwaukee Brewers were 2-2 when they traveled to Chicago before heading to Los Angeles with the thought of facing Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke in the first two of three games during the weekend series.

The Brewers not only defeated the top two starters in the Dodgers rotation, but they sent Sunday’s starter Dan Haren to an early exit after recording six runs over the opening three innings on the way to a victory of 7-2 and a weekend sweep of Los Angeles.

The Brewers received six innings of scoreless pitching from Wily Peralta who is 15-7 on the season. Peralta allowed just 5 hits and tied St. Louis’ Adam Wainwright and Cincinnati’s Johnny Cueto with 15 wins to lead the majors.

Los Angeles could not score until the 8th when Scott Van Slyke and Andre Ethier smacked doubles off Marco Estrada who relieved Peralta.

The Brewers have now won 4 straight and 7 of their past 10 to open a three-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.

Los Angeles has lost 3 straight and 6 of its past 10 overall. The Dodgers lead in the NL West has been trimmed to 3 ½ games by the San Francisco Giants.

The Dodgers will host the San Diego Padres for three games after a day off on Monday. Following their series with San Diego, the Dodgers host the New York Mets for three before embarking on a road trip of five games to Arizona and San Diego.

Milwaukee has the day off on Monday as well before it has a two-game inter-league series at Miller Park versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Following their short series with Toronto, the Brewers will host the Pittsburgh for three games, before embarking on a nine-game road trip.
