Montana vs Wyoming College Football Preview

The Montana Grizzlies travel to take on the Wyoming Cowboys at War Memorial Stadium. Last season FCS Montana had a successful 10-3 season that against Appalachian State 30-6. Montana leads the overall series between these two teams 13-0 all time. The Wyoming Cowboys return 16 starters, nine on defense five on offense. Wyoming will be hoping to rebound against a decent Montana squad. Last year Wyoming had a well balanced offense both rushing and passing the ball effectively. However, the Wyoming defense was one of the worst in the nation, allowing more then 36 points per game. Head coach Craig Bohl starts his first year with the Cowboys, hopefully he brought a defense with him.

Keys for the Montana Grizzlies:

  • Jordan Johnson returns at QB for the Grizzlies in his last season. Johnson had an impressive 32 touchdowns on 3387 yards passing. If Johnson can duplicate those kinds of numbers against Wyoming, they might cause them some trouble.
  • Jordan Canada will be in the backfield for Montana this season. Last year Jordan had 1062 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns. Canada will need to have big runs past the Wyoming defense.

Keys for the Wyoming Cowboys:

  • Last season the cowboys had a disappointing 5-7 record, 2-3 in their MWC conference. This year the cowboys have to replace their starting QB with a solid young starter if they hope to have the passing success they had last year.
  • Luckily the cowboys do have some depth at running back, and junior running back Shaun Wick will get the nod already having 1329 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns. Wick will have to have some good rushes in order to set his team up for easier first downs.

Favorite/Odds: Wyoming by 12 points

Montana heads into this game with a full head of steam hoping to upset Wyoming. But Wyoming obviously has different plans, making it to an FBS bowl game.
