Morgan State vs Eastern Michigan College Football Preview

The FCS Morgan State Bears travel to Rynearson Stadium to face the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Morgan State had a disappointing season in the MEAC with a record of 5-7. Morgan State lost their first five games last year, so they will want an early victory this year. Eastern Michigan had a worse record than their opponent, the eagles won their first game against Howard, then they didn’t win again until November when they beat Western Michigan. Eastern Michigan has a young squad that has the potential to pull them out of the gutter. FCS certainly have the potential to defeat their FBS opponents, and this is one of those potential games that we could see it happen.

Keys for the Morgan State Bears:

  • Morgan State’s best running back returns for the 2013 season. Lamont Brown had 145 carries for 708 yards and 5 touchdowns. His offensive line added some improvements that will hopefully open up lanes for Lamont.
  • Seth Higgins will be starting quarterback come game one, though he may split time with Robert Council. Higgins only had seven touchdowns, so he will want to get into the end zone this season.

Keys for the Eastern Michigan Eagles:

  • Eastern Michigan’s defense was basically non-existent last year. They allowed an average of more then 45 points a game, one of the worst averages in all of NCAA football. Somehow the Eagles have to find a way to change that if they ever stand a chance at winning more then 2 games.
  • Bronson Hill was the leading rusher for the eagles last season, getting 1101 yards on 196 touches. Hill only had 5 touchdowns so he should be thinking about how he can finish runs stronger, in order to punch it all the way in.

Favorite/Odds: Eastern Michigan by 3 points.

Each of these teams is in need of any kind of win they can get. Either team will be extremely satisfied with a victory, and both teams will equally be devastated with a loss.
