New Hampshire vs Toledo college football

The New Hampshire Wildcats travel to face off against the Toledo Rockets. New Hampshire had a successful year in the FCS Colonial Athletic Association, but Toledo is no FCS team. New Hampshire lost their season opener against Central Michigan 24-21. However, they eventually finished their season on a six game win streak. Their 10-4 record got them into the playoffs of the FCS, eventually being eliminated in the semi-finals against North Dakota State. Toledo had a fantastic running game earning them 240 yards per game rushing. Toledo lost their first two games last season against tough opponents. They eventually rebounded to go 7-5 on the year, though they did not receive a bowl bid.

Keys for the New Hampshire Wildcats:

  • The Wildcats had a decent year In 2013 on both sides of the football. They were able to put up big numbers while only allowing a few touchdowns per game.
  • Head coach Sean McDonnell will have to keep his players calm during the game and make sure that every player knows their role on the field.

Keys for the Toledo Rockets:

  • Toledo lost their QB, RB, and best WR last season all are gone for 2014. Head coach Matt Campbell has to make some important decisions in the offseason as to who would fill all the open positions.
  • Sophomore running back Kareem Hunt will be the starter for game one. Last year Hunt only had 137 carries for 866 yards and six touchdowns. These numbers are sure to rise now that Hunt will be starting every game barring an injury.

The Toledo Rockets desperately need a turnaround from what happened last season. This year they face a much easier opponent, which should help the confidence of the Toledo players. New Hampshire will be doing their very best to stop the rockets.
