Ohio State vs Navy College Football Week-1 Preview

Ohio State Vs Navy Live StreamThe Ohio State Buckeyes travel to a neutral field in Maryland to take on the Navy Midshipmen. The triple option of Navy was set to take on the Buckeyes Braxton Miller, that is, until the news of his season ending injury broke. Now, Ohio State fans dreams of a national championship lay in shambles. Head coach Urban Meyer will have to find a suitable replacement quickly if Ohio State even hopes to make a bowl game bid. The Navy Midshipmen could very well take advantage of this OSU loss and steal away with a victory. Last year Navy was able to win 9 games, including against their rival Army and their bowl game over Middle Tennessee. This game will surely be a competitive match up.

-Keys for Navy Midshipmen:

  • Quarterback Keenan Reynolds led the triple option midshipmen on a successful season that culminated in a bowl victory. Reynolds over 1,000 yards passing and led the team with 1,300+ yards rushing as well.
  • The Midshipmen don’t pass the ball very effectively but their running backs know their jobs in the triple option offense. Chris Swain will help Reynolds push the ball further down the field.

Keys for Ohio State Buckeyes:

  • The loss of their star player Braxton Miller has shocked the buckeyes fan base. However, the season must go on and Urban Meyer will need to find a way to push his players threw these tough times. Freshman QB J.T. Barrett will now have to take part of the high tempo offense that Urban Meyer tends to run.
  • Running back depth is certainly something that OSU does have. Three capable backs are able to step up and get reps this season. Ezekiel Elliot, Curtis Samuel, and Rod Smith will all be ready to play come game time.

-INJURIES:

  • Braxton Miller: Out for Season

Favorite/Odds: Ohio State by 13.5 points.

Ohio State needs to face facts and move on from the Braxton Miller era. With Miller out Ohio State will now utilize many more offensive players in order to fill the gap that Miller left. The Midshipmen are always a tough opponent, and there is no exception this year. Ohio State will have to find another gear in order to ensure a victory.
