Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Game Preview & Prediction

Team Preview

The Steelers will once again be one of the top dogs in the AFC coming off a 13-3 season where they cruised to the AFC North title. Three of the killer B’s will be together againand the Steelers will have all the pieces to produce an electrifying offense yet again. The Steelers ranked 3rd in passing offense with 273.8 yards per game and 8th in scoring in 2017. Wide receiver Martavis Bryant is gone, but the passing game should continue to flourish with the emergence of JuJu Smith-Schuster who had 58 catches for 917 yards and 7 touchdowns his rookie season. The offense returns a veteran offensive line with three pro bowlers among them.

The Steelers’ defense has undertaken a bit of reshuffling to attempt to find its former glory. The challenge will be easier said than done as the Steelers are still recovering from the heartbreaking loss of Ryan Shazier. The Steelers added safety Morgan Burnett in free agency to bolster the secondary. Defensive end Cameron Heyward leads a steady group up front as he tallied 12.0 sacks last season. Overall, the defense is a young group, but should be solid as long as they contain big plays.

Watching The Steelers

The Steelers will have five primetime telecasts this season with the remaining games on regional networks. For Steeler fans living outside the regional viewing area, NFL Game Pass provides a perfect option to watch the Steelers anywhere in the country. Games on NFL Game Pass cannot be streamed live however.

2018 Prediction

The Steelers will attempt to repeat as AFC North champions with a schedule that appears to be manageable. It is hard to imagine the Steelers not getting out to a fast start with the toughest road game in the first eight weeks of the season being Cincinnati. A 7-1 start to the season seems to be well within reach. A quick start to the season will be critical though as the second half of the season includes contests against Jacksonville, Carolina, New England, New Orleans, and a road contest against arch-rival Baltimore.

2018 Prediction:  12-4 & 1st in AFC North
