Ray Allen To Play in NBA Next Season

Ray Allen To Play Next SeasonAfter an offseason where Ray Allen had strongly been considering retirement, sources close to Allen have told ESPN that the 10 time All Star will play in the upcoming NBA season.

The Cleveland cavaliers are considered to the the front runner to land Allen, a free agent, because Allen is very enticed at the prospect of continuing to play with Lebron James, whom Allen has played with over the last 2 seasons with the  Miami Heat. That said, Allen has not committed fully to any team.

Allen was an important piece off the bench for the 4 time reigning Eastern Conference Champion Heat, adding 9.6 while making 37.5% of his shots from beyond the arc.

Allen, 39 years of age, will only play for title contenders as he wants to add a 3rd ring to his collection. While no team other than the Cavs has been specifically mentioned by Allen or his agent, any title contender would be ecstatic to add the NBA’s all time leader in 3 pointer to their roster as a valuable bench contributor.

Allen showed just how critical his pinpoint accuracy and clutch shooting can still be in the NBA finals for the 2012-2013 season when Allen hit a late 3 pointer in Game 6 against the San Antonio Spurs to send the game into overtime where the heat eventually won, staving off elimination and eventually leading to the Heat’s game 7 victory making them back-to-back champions.

While Allen has publicly maintained that he is still mulling over the decision, privately Allen seems sure that he will return to play in his 19th NBA season in search of another ring.

While the NBA season is still months away, any team that can truly be considered a contender would love to add a pure shooter of Allen’s caliber to their roster.
