The game referred as the ‘Rocky Mountain Showdown’ between the Colorado State Rams and the Colorado Buffaloes, receives the ‘Centennial Cup’. Colorado leads the all time series 62-21-2. But this season Colorado State will be more confident then ever after going 8-6 and winning their bowl in 2013. Colorado won the last time these two teams met 41-27 in 2013. So both teams will be looking to show each other who deserves the Centennial Cup more. The Colorado State defense wasn’t as sharp as Rams fans would have hoped last season, but their offense will be jumping all over defenses throughout the season.

–Keys for the Colorado State Rams:

  • With the loss of their best running back, Kapri Bibbs, head coach Jim McElwain will have to make sure his offense finds a capable back of replacing him.
  • QB Garrett Grayson had excellent season in 2013 with almost 3,700 yards passing and 23 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions. The top two receivers are returning to the Rams as well as a slew of other talent to help their passing game.

–Keys for the Colorado Buffaloes:

  • Quarterback Sefo Liufao was one of the best players for the Buffaloes better come well prepared and ready to play. Last season Sefo had 1779 yards passing and 12 touchdowns; those numbers will need to improve if Colorado has any chance at a bowl game this year.

–Favorite/Odds: Colorado by 3 points.

–The Rocky Mountain Showdown will be played at neutral Mile High stadium. The thin air will be echoing with noise come kickoff time and both teams will feel the adrenaline rush as the run on to the field. Both sides have absolute confidence in their team’s ability to win the game. Colorado State fans will be hoping to go against the stats and bring home the Centennial Cup.
